Aromanttisuus

Aromanttisuus, often shortened to "aro", describes a romantic orientation characterized by a lack of romantic attraction. This is distinct from sexual orientation, as an aromantic person can still experience sexual attraction. For example, someone might identify as aromantic and heterosexual, aromantic and homosexual, aromantic and bisexual, or asexual, meaning they experience no sexual attraction.

It is important to understand that aromanttisuus is a valid orientation and not a choice, a phase, or a result of trauma. Like other orientations, it is a part of a person's identity. The aromantic spectrum acknowledges that experiences of romantic attraction can vary, with some individuals experiencing it very rarely or under specific circumstances.
