Antajalla is a fictional archipelago and cultural region used in speculative fiction and world-building exercises. It denotes a self-contained maritime society imagined to inhabit a cluster of inhabited and semi-inhabited islands with a shared cultural heritage and governance framework.

Etymology and geography. The name antajalla is described in lore as combining elements meaning shore or edge (anta) with home or land (jalla). In its imagined geography, Antajalla comprises around a dozen islands of volcanic and coral origin, arranged around a central nutrient-rich lagoon. The climate is temperate maritime, with steady trade winds and high biodiversity in coastal forests, mangroves, and coral reefs. The archipelago is linked by ferry networks, sea routes, and short air connections between the larger islands.

History and governance. In the fictional chronology, the first inhabitants—seafaring communities known as the Atheri—established a sustainable coastal economy centered on fishing, seaweed cultivation, and agroforestry. Over time, Antajalla developed a decentralized confederal system known as the Assembly of Tides, with representative councils on each island. Decisions are typically guided by consensus and environmental stewardship, and authority rotates among island delegations.

The culture blends oral storytelling, music using bamboo and shell instruments, and cuisine featuring fish, seaweed, root vegetables, and coconut.
