Anomalogous

Anomalogous is a rarely used adjective with no widely accepted, standard definition in major English dictionaries. In most authoritative references, the term is not listed, and when it appears in print it is often treated as a nonstandard coinage or a mistaken blend of related words such as anomalous or analogous. Because of the lack of consensus, meanings can vary by author.

The form appears to be a blend of anomalous and analogous, or simply a mistaken creation by analogy with other -gous adjectives (for example analogous, irregular, or homologous). The suffix -gous is common in English for forming adjectives, but anomalogous does not have a fixed semantic footprint in established scientific or literary usage. As a result, any proposed definition tends to be provisional and context-dependent.

In practice, any meaning attributed to anomalogous should be considered speculative unless supported by a clear authorial definition.
