Analyysivaatimus

Analyysivaatimus is a term in Finnish requirements engineering that refers to the formal set of analyses that must be carried out to understand, validate, and justify a proposed system or project. It identifies which analytical activities are required, the objectives of each analysis, and the criteria used to judge their outcomes. The concept emphasizes that analysis tasks are planned early and linked to the system requirements and design decisions.

Purpose and scope: The analyysivaatimus ensures that critical evaluations—such as feasibility, risk, performance, security, data quality, interoperability and maintainability—are explicitly defined and traceable to project goals. It helps prevent late-stage changes by making analytical work visible and accountable, guiding both planning and execution.

Contents: A typical analyysivaatimus document includes the scope, analysis objectives, required analyses, chosen methods and tools, data and inputs, deliverables, responsibilities, schedule, and acceptance criteria. It also defines how results will be validated and how findings influence design decisions or requirement amendments.

Process and relationship: It is created during requirements elicitation and refined during system design. It interfaces with functional and non-functional requirements, technical constraints, and quality attributes, forming a basis for traceability matrices and impact assessments.
