Aliassen

Aliassen are alternative names used to refer to a person, object, or concept. The term is the plural form of alias in several languages, with alias originally coming from Latin and meaning “otherwise.” In English, alias denotes an assumed or additional name; in Dutch and related languages the plural form is aliassen. Aliassen are used to distinguish identities, conceal origins, or organize information more clearly in different contexts.

In everyday life, aliases appear as pen names, stage names, or pseudonyms chosen by authors, artists, or public figures. They can also serve practical purposes, such as separating personal and professional identities or protecting privacy in specific situations. In networking and email, DNS CNAME records and email aliases map one address to another, enabling flexible routing and mailbox management. Aliasing is also employed in data protection and privacy to reduce traceability by substituting real identifiers with alternate ones.
