alMutadid, born Abu Abdallah Muhammad ibn al-Mu'tamid, was the Abbasid caliph in Baghdad from 892 to 902 CE. His reign is often considered a period of renewed stability and prosperity for the Abbasid Caliphate after a period of fragmentation. He was the son of the previous caliph, al-Mu'tamid, and his mother was a slave named Fitna.
