Aktorki

Aktorki are a type of self-healing concrete, commonly used in construction projects to create highly durable and resistant surfaces. The name "aktorki" is a Polish term, meaning "little actresses," as the mixture can change its appearance in response to environmental conditions.

Aktorki concrete contains innovative additives that enable it to repair cracks and damage caused by wear and tear, temperature fluctuations, or exposure to chemicals. This property allows the concrete to maintain its appearance and functionality over time. The mixture's self-healing capabilities are achieved through the use of bacteria that ingest lanolin, a type of wax produced by sheep, which is added to the concrete.

When a crack forms in the concrete, the bacteria are released and begin to consume the lanolin, producing carbon dioxide gas in the process. The pressure generated by the gas forces the concrete to close the gap, effectively healing the damage. This process can occur repeatedly, making the concrete highly resistant to degradation.
