Akreditacije

Akreditacije are formal recognitions that a certification body meets specific requirements to operate. These requirements typically relate to its competence, impartiality, and consistent operation. Accreditation is not a product certification but rather a certification of the certifier. It provides a public assurance that an organization is competent to perform a specific task, such as testing, calibration, inspection, or certification.

In many countries, accreditation bodies are established to oversee this process. These national accreditation bodies are themselves assessed and recognized internationally through organizations like the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). This international recognition ensures that accreditations issued by different countries are comparable and accepted globally, facilitating international trade and the mutual recognition of goods and services.

The purpose of accreditation is to build confidence in the outputs of conformity assessment bodies. For example, an accredited testing laboratory's results are more likely to be trusted by regulators, customers, and other stakeholders. Similarly, an accredited certification body provides assurance that the certifications it issues, such as for quality management systems (ISO 9001) or environmental management systems (ISO 14001), are reliable. This ultimately benefits consumers and businesses by ensuring product safety, quality, and compliance with standards.
