Agrofert

Agrofert is a Czech multinational conglomerate headquartered in Prague. It was founded in 1993 by entrepreneur Andrej Babiš and grew into one of the Czech Republic’s largest private groups, with interests spanning agriculture, food processing, chemicals, construction, and media. The corporate structure centers on the parent company Agrofert, a.s., and a wide network of subsidiaries operating across Europe and beyond. Core activities include agricultural production, fertilizer and chemical manufacturing, and food and beverage processing, with diversification into retail, logistics, and other industrial sectors. In the 2010s the group expanded its media holdings, acquiring several Czech outlets, which has led to public debate about potential conflicts of interest during Babiš’s political career. Ownership of Agrofert has been maintained through trust and holding structures intended to separate ownership from day-to-day management while Babiš held public office. The group employs tens of thousands of people and generates substantial revenue, making it a major player in Central European agrifood and chemical industries, and its portfolio reflects vertical integration across farming inputs, processing, distribution, and services.
