Aggregatplattform

Aggregatplattform is a term used in the offshore oil and gas industry to describe a platform that houses one or more generators (aggregates) used to produce electric power for offshore installations. The platform’s primary function is to provide a reliable electrical supply to topside process equipment, pumps, compressors, and, in some cases, subsea infrastructure. An aggregatplattform can be a standalone module or a modular addition to existing field infrastructure, designed to be installed near the field’s facilities or on a dedicated structure.

Design and equipment: A typical aggregatplattform contains diesel- or gas-fueled generator sets, switchgear, control systems, fuel storage and supply, cooling systems, exhaust and vibration isolation. The arrangement is often modular and can be expanded by adding additional gensets to match demand or to provide redundancy and maintenance intervals. The platform includes safety features such as fire and gas detection, enclosure protection, and compliance with offshore standards.

Operation: The units are started and stopped based on load requirements, with automatic start sequences for standby or emergency power. Power is delivered through a local electrical distribution system or via subsea power links to subsea equipment, depending on the field design.

Applications: Used in remote or satellite offshore fields, for de-bottlenecking or early-phase development, during commissioning, or as a dedicated power supply hub for a field.

Environmental and economic aspects: Diesel and gas-fired gensets produce emissions; operators aim to optimize uptime, fuel use, and maintenance. The concept emphasizes modularity and adaptability.
