Administratum

The Administratum, also known as the Adeptus Administratum, is the central bureaucratic arm of the Imperium of Man in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It is responsible for governing across the Imperium through record-keeping, taxation, census-taking, planetary surveys, and the logistics of imperial administration.

It operates through a vast hierarchy of sub-departments, administrators, scribes, auditors, and clerks who maintain the Imperium’s archives and oversee administration on worlds and sectors. Standardized procedures and extensive paperwork underpin its efforts to coordinate imperial rule over millions of worlds, often translating military and civil needs into bureaucratic actions.

Leadership is provided by the Master of the Administratum, the highest-ranking official within the organization. The office wields substantial influence within Terra’s governance and coordinates with other major institutions, including the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Ecclesiarchy, to maintain imperial unity and policy across the galaxy.

The Administratum maintains comprehensive records such as census data, property rights, genealogies, logistics, and muster rolls for imperial forces.
