Acordadas

Acordadas is the feminine plural form of acordada, the past participle of the verb acordar. Derived from acordar, the term carries two main senses in Portuguese: as an adjective meaning “agreed” or “settled,” and as an intransitive or transitive participle meaning “awakened” or “woken up.” The exact meaning is determined by context and the noun it accompanies.

In its agreement sense, acordadas functions to describe terms, conditions, or arrangements that have been agreed by parties. It is commonly found in legal, contract, and formal writing, as in as condições acordadas (the agreed conditions) or as propostas acordadas (the agreed proposals). In this use, acordadas agrees in gender and number with the noun it modifies.

In its sense related to waking, acordadas denotes that someone or something has been awakened. It is used with feminine nouns, such as as pessoas acordadas (the people who have woken up) or as crianças acordadas cedo (the children who woke up early). This usage is ordinary in everyday speech, though speakers often choose more explicit phrasing like as pessoas que acordaram.

Acordadas can also appear in figurative or metaphorical expressions, such as sociedade acordada (an awake or awakened society), signaling awareness or consciousness rather than physical waking.
