Acetylreste

Acetylreste, or acetyl residue, is a generic term used in organic chemistry to denote the acetyl fragment that remains part of a molecule after an acetylation or deacetylation event. It is not a specific compound but rather the portion of a substrate that carries the acetyl group within a larger structure.

In practical terms, the acetylreste depends on the substrate involved. For example, in the acetylation of an amine, the acetylreste is the acetyl group bound to the nitrogen, yielding an N-acetyl derivative.
