ASCIIversiointi
ASCIIversiointi, also known as ASCII art, is a graphic design technique that uses computers for presentation and consists of pictures pieced together from the 95 printable (from a total of 128) characters defined by the ASCII Standard from 1963 and ASCII compliant character sets with proprietary extended character sets (high and low, such as the IBM extended ASCII sets used for code pages 437 and 850) are common. The term ASCII art is also used to refer to text-based visual artworks created through the strategic arrangement of typographic characters. The aesthetic and visual impact of ASCII art is limited by the resolution and characters available in the character set used, which is why the images are often quite simple and stylized. ASCII art is often used to add a visual element to electronic messages, such as email and Internet relay chat, and is also used in web design and user interfaces to create simple graphics without the need for image files. The technique has been used since the 1970s and has seen a resurgence in popularity with the rise of digital art and the internet. ASCII art can be created manually or with the help of software tools and algorithms.
