ALSlääkkeet

ALSlääkkeet is a Finnish term that translates to "ALS drugs" or "ALS medications." It refers to pharmacological treatments developed and used to manage Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Currently, there is no cure for ALS, and treatments aim to slow disease progression, manage symptoms, and improve quality of life.

One of the most commonly prescribed ALSlääkkeet is riluzole. Riluzole is believed to work by reducing damage to motor neurons by decreasing the release of glutamate, a neurotransmitter.
