ACgewrichtsletsels, also known as acromioclavicular joint injuries, refer to damage to the articulation between the acromion (a part of the shoulder blade) and the clavicle (collarbone). These injuries are commonly caused by direct trauma to the shoulder, such as a fall onto the shoulder or an impact during sports.

The severity of AC joint injuries can range from mild sprains of the ligaments supporting the joint to complete tears and dislocations. Symptoms typically include pain at the top of the shoulder, swelling, tenderness, and difficulty lifting the arm. In more severe cases, a visible deformity or "step-off" may be present where the clavicle protrudes.

Diagnosis usually involves a physical examination and imaging tests like X-rays. Treatment depends on the grade of the injury. Mild sprains are often managed conservatively with rest, ice, pain medication, and physical therapy to regain strength and range of motion. More severe injuries, particularly those involving complete ligamentous tears and significant displacement, may require surgical intervention to repair or reconstruct the damaged ligaments and restore the joint's stability. Rehabilitation after surgery is crucial for optimal recovery and return to normal activities.
