ACIII

Assassin's Creed III, often abbreviated ACIII, is an action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. It was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in October 2012, with Windows following in 2013, and was later reissued as part of the Assassin's Creed III Remastered collection in 2019 for modern platforms.

ACIII is the fifth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series and is set in colonial America during the years 1754 to 1783. The story follows Connor Kenway, a half-Mohawk, half-British Assassin who becomes involved in the American Revolution and the ongoing conflict between the Assassin and Templar orders. In parallel, Desmond Miles continues his modern-day story through the Animus. The game uses the AnvilNext 2.0 engine to deliver its open-world environments and tech-powered combat.

Gameplay expands the franchise's sandbox formula with larger environments that span cities such as Boston and New York, frontier regions, and naval theaters. New features include naval combat, an enhanced hunting system, revamped parkour mechanics, and the Homestead, a management system that lets players develop a small settlement to unlock side missions and resources.

ACIII was noted for its scope, visuals, and naval sequences, but faced criticism for pacing and repetitive side content. Critics generally praised its exploration and combat while offering mixed opinions on Desmond's modern-day arc. The remastered edition added improved visuals and the three-part The Tyranny of King Washington campaign as part of the package, reinforcing the game’s lasting legacy within the series.
