Creed

Creed is a formal statement of belief or a system of beliefs that is proclaimed publicly. The term derives from the Latin credo, meaning “I believe,” and has been used in religious, philosophical, and secular contexts to articulate core tenets or guiding principles. In religious practice, creeds function as concise summaries of faith and are often recited in liturgy or baptismal rites. The most influential Christian creeds are the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed, with the Athanasian Creed also commonly cited. These texts address the nature of God, the person and work of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the church, and eschatological hope. Creeds can serve to unify believers and distinguish doctrinal positions within and between denominations.

Beyond religion, the term can refer to any system of beliefs or a personal code of principles.

In popular culture, Creed may refer to specific proper nouns. Creed is an American rock band formed
