28355 is the minor planet designation of a small asteroid residing in the main belt of the Solar System. The object was first observed on 12 November 2000 by the Lincoln Near‑Earth Asteroid Research (LINEAR) survey at the Lincoln Laboratory’s Experimental Test Site near Socorro, New Mexico. Its official designation, 28355 (2000 QY3), was assigned when its orbit was sufficiently well determined to allow a permanent number.

The asteroid follows an orbit with a semi‑major axis of approximately 2.54 astronomical units. Its orbital period is about 4.05 years, and its eccentricity is 0.084, giving it a perihelion of roughly 2.34 AU and an aphelion of 2.74 AU. The orbital inclination relative to the ecliptic is modest, at 4.6°, placing it in the inner portion of the asteroid belt. Dynamical studies classify it as a mainstream background asteroid rather than a member of any prominent collisional family.

Spectroscopic measurements indicate that 28355 is a stony (S‑type) asteroid, consistent with many inner belt bodies. Its absolute magnitude is 15.3, which, when combined with a typical stony albedo of about 0.15, yields an estimated diameter of roughly 2.5 kilometres. Photometric observations have determined a synodic rotation period of approximately 7.6 hours, with a light‑curve amplitude of 0.12 magnitudes, suggesting modest surface or shape variations. No close Earth‑approaching events have been recorded, and the object remains well away from resonant zones that could drive its orbit toward the terrestrial planets.
