The asteroid was discovered on 20 September 2004 by the Near‑Earth Asteroid Tracking (NEAT) survey operating the 1.0‑meter Schmidt telescope at Palomar Observatory in California. In follow‑up observations, the diameter was estimated from its absolute magnitude (H = 15.3) to be roughly 3.5 kilometres, assuming an albedo of 0.20 typical of S‑type asteroids. The object orbits the Sun between 2.1 and 2.7 astronomical units, with a semi‑major axis of 2.4 AU, an eccentricity of 0.12 and an inclination of 6.2° relative to the ecliptic plane.
