Ämblikliike

Ämblikliike is an Estonian term that translates to "spider movement." It generally refers to the distinctive way in which spiders navigate their environment, characterized by their rapid, jerky, and often seemingly erratic movements. This type of locomotion is a result of their unique anatomy and physiology, particularly the hydraulic system that controls their legs.

Spiders do not have muscles in their legs in the same way that many other arthropods do. Instead, they extend their legs by increasing the blood pressure within them. This hydraulic system allows for quick, precise, and powerful movements, but it also can lead to a less fluid, more segmented motion compared to animals with more conventional muscular leg control.

The "spider movement" is often observed when a spider is startled, hunting, or attempting to escape. It can involve sudden bursts of speed, darting in multiple directions, or freezing in place for extended periods.
