ínyzsebek

Ínyzsebek, often translated as gum pockets or periodontal pockets, are spaces that form between the gum tissue and the tooth. These pockets develop when the gum line detaches from the tooth, creating a gap. Normally, the gum tissue fits snugly around the teeth, preventing the formation of such spaces.

The primary cause of ínyzsebek is periodontal disease, also known as gum disease. This condition is typically initiated by the buildup of plaque, a sticky film of bacteria that adheres to teeth. If plaque is not removed through regular brushing and flossing, it can harden into tartar, which is more difficult to eliminate. Bacteria in plaque and tartar irritate the gums, leading to inflammation, a condition called gingivitis. If left untreated, gingivitis can progress to periodontitis, a more severe form of gum disease where the gums begin to pull away from the teeth.

As the gums recede, the space between the tooth and gum deepens, forming an ínyzseb. These pockets can harbor bacteria and food particles, making them difficult to clean effectively. Over time, the infection can damage the supporting bone structure of the teeth, potentially leading to tooth loosening and even tooth loss. Symptoms of ínyzsebek can include bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, and a receding gum line. Diagnosis is usually made by a dentist or dental hygienist using a periodontal probe to measure the depth of the pockets. Treatment depends on the severity and may involve professional cleaning, deep cleaning procedures (scaling and root planing), or, in advanced cases, surgical interventions.
