Íbúðaeigenda is an Icelandic term that translates to "apartment owner" or "condominium owner" in English. It refers to an individual who owns a unit within a larger building, typically an apartment complex, where the ownership is divided into individual units. This form of ownership is common in urban areas and allows for individual control and responsibility over a specific dwelling while sharing ownership of common areas.

The concept of íbúðaeigenda is closely related to condominium ownership in many other countries. When an individual becomes an íbúðaeigenda, they acquire title to their specific apartment unit, including its interior spaces. In addition to their private unit, they also hold a shared ownership interest in the common elements of the building. These common elements can include hallways, stairwells, elevators, lobbies, roofs, exterior walls, and recreational facilities such as swimming pools or gyms, if present.
