ércképzdési is a Hungarian term that translates to "ore formation" or "ore genesis" in English. It refers to the geological processes responsible for the concentration of valuable minerals within the Earth's crust to form economically viable ore deposits. These processes are complex and occur over vast geological timescales, involving a combination of physical, chemical, and biological factors.

The formation of ore deposits is typically a multi-stage process. Initially, there must be a source of the elements that will eventually form the ore. This source can be the Earth's mantle, crustal rocks, or even fluids circulating within these rocks. These elements are then mobilized and transported, often by hydrothermal fluids, which are hot, chemically active water solutions circulating through the Earth's crust. These fluids can dissolve metals and other elements from existing rocks.

As the hydrothermal fluids move, changes in temperature, pressure, or chemical environment can cause the dissolved metals to precipitate out and accumulate in specific locations, forming an ore body. Magmatic processes, where molten rock (magma) cools and solidifies, can also lead to the formation of certain types of ore deposits as different minerals crystallize at different temperatures. Sedimentary processes, involving the erosion, transport, and deposition of minerals by water or wind, can also concentrate valuable materials. Biological activity, though less common as a primary driver, can sometimes play a role in concentrating certain elements, particularly in the formation of some types of placer deposits.
