áskrift

Áskrift is an agreement to receive goods or services on a recurring basis in exchange for periodic payments. In Icelandic, áskrift denotes both the contract and the act of subscribing; the related verb is áskrifa, "to subscribe." Subscriptions may cover many areas, including print and digital media, software, streaming services, delivery boxes, and memberships.

Common features include the billing interval (for example monthly or yearly), price, and the term of the agreement; automatic renewal is a common element, along with terms for pausing, changing, or cancelling the subscription. Many subscriptions begin with a trial period or introductory price.

Subscriptions are usually tied to an account and payment method; users can view terms, update payment details, modify renewal settings, or cancel. Cancellations may take effect at the end of the current period; refunds depend on policy.

Consumer protection regimes generally require clear disclosure of terms, transparent pricing, and rights to cancel; some jurisdictions provide cooling-off periods or restrictions on auto-renewal.
