Államigazgatási (administrative governance) refers to the organizational and procedural framework through which a government manages public affairs, implements policies, and administers public services. In Hungary and other Central and Eastern European contexts, the term encompasses both the formal structures of state administration and the practical execution of governance at local, regional, and national levels.

The system is typically divided into central and local administration. Central administration involves government ministries, agencies, and state offices responsible for policy formulation and oversight, such as the Prime Minister’s Office, ministries (e.g., Finance, Interior), and specialized authorities (e.g., tax offices, environmental protection agencies). Local administration, on the other hand, includes county (*megye*) and city (*város*) councils, as well as smaller municipalities (*település*), which handle community services, infrastructure, and local development.

Key principles of államigazgatási include decentralization, where certain powers are delegated to regional and local bodies, and accountability, ensuring transparency in decision-making and resource allocation. The Hungarian system is influenced by both historical traditions and modern EU regulations, particularly in areas like anti-corruption, digital governance, and public procurement.
