Þróunarmarkmið
Þróunarmarkmið, often translated as Development Goals, refers to a set of objectives aimed at improving the well-being of people and the planet. These goals typically address a broad spectrum of challenges, including poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, sustainable energy, decent work and economic growth, industry innovation and infrastructure, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, climate action, life below water, life on land, peace justice and strong institutions, and partnerships for the goals. The concept has evolved over time, with different frameworks and sets of goals being established by international organizations and national governments. The overarching aim is to foster a more just, equitable, and sustainable world for current and future generations. These goals serve as a blueprint for collective action, guiding policy decisions and resource allocation towards achieving measurable progress in these critical areas. They encourage collaboration among governments, businesses, civil society, and individuals to tackle complex global issues.
