ØreNeseHalslege is the Danish-Norwegian term for an otolaryngologist, a medical doctor specialized in diseases of the ear, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck. These clinicians diagnose and treat conditions that affect hearing, balance, breathing, voice, swallowing, and facial anatomy, and they care for both adults and children.

Scope of practice includes ear disorders such as hearing loss, tinnitus, recurrent infections, and vertigo; nasal and sinus problems like allergic rhinitis, chronic sinusitis, nasal obstruction, and nosebleeds; throat and voice issues such as tonsillitis, reflux-related throat symptoms, hoarseness, and sleep-disordered breathing; and swallowing disorders and pediatric ENT concerns. They also manage select head and neck conditions, including salivary glands, thyroid disease, and certain tumors.

Diagnostics and treatments combine medical and surgical approaches. Clinicians use examinations, nasal endoscopy and laryngoscopy, audiology testing, tympanometry, imaging (CT or MRI), and, when needed, biopsies. Treatments range from medications (antibiotics, allergy therapies, hearing devices) to surgery (tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy, sinus surgery, nasal polyp removal, placement of ear tubes, and various neck procedures). ENT doctors often work in hospitals or private clinics and collaborate with audiologists, speech therapists, and allergists.

Education and training require a medical degree followed by several years of residency in otorhinolaryngology. In public healthcare systems, ØreNeseHalslege departments provide both routine care and specialized services.
