Önthet is a term derived from the Hungarian word "öntés," meaning casting or molding. In its primary context, it refers to the process of shaping molten material, typically metal, plastic, or glass, by pouring it into a mold and allowing it to solidify. This ancient technique is fundamental to manufacturing, enabling the creation of complex shapes and components that would be difficult or impossible to produce through other methods.

The molten material is heated to a high temperature until it becomes liquid and then introduced into a hollow cavity, the mold, which has been precisely designed to replicate the desired final form. Once the material cools and hardens within the mold, the object is removed.
