Építészkamara

Építészkamara, or the Chamber of Architects of Hungary, is the professional body that represents architects and regulates the architectural profession in Hungary. Established by law, it operates as a self-governing organization with duties that include protecting the public interest and promoting professional standards.

Its main functions are maintaining the official register of licensed architects, issuing licences to practise, and enforcing ethical and professional conduct. The chamber defines codes of professional conduct, handles disciplinary matters, and administers continuing professional development requirements. It also guards the use of the professional title építész and related designations, and provides services and information to members.

Beyond licensing and ethics, the chamber contributes to policy discussions on architecture and urban planning, offering expertise to government authorities on design quality, safety, sustainability, building regulations, and energy efficiency. It also represents the profession in national and international forums and coordinates with related organizations.

Organizationally, Építészkamara consists of a national body and regional chapters. Registration with the chamber is required to practise as an architect and to use the professional title építész, and the chamber governs professional eligibility and ongoing education. Through its activities, the chamber aims to ensure high standards within the profession, support architects in their work, and promote quality construction and architectural culture in Hungary.
