Plastics undergo sorting based on their resin type, followed by cleaning and shredding before being melted down and reformed into new products. Glass is crushed and melted, often becoming new bottles or construction materials. Metals, such as aluminum and steel, are highly recyclable and are processed at smelters. Even organic waste can be channeled into composting or anaerobic digestion facilities to produce nutrient-rich soil or biogas.

The development and optimization of recycling channels are ongoing efforts.
