Äänenvaimennuslaite

Äänenvaimennuslaite, commonly known in English as a silencer or suppressor, is a firearm accessory designed to reduce the sound produced by a firearm when it is discharged. It functions by containing and slowing down the rapid expansion of propellant gases exiting the muzzle. These gases, upon escaping the barrel, create a significant sonic boom. The device typically consists of a series of baffles or expansion chambers that force the hot, high-pressure gases to cool and expand over a larger volume before they are released into the atmosphere. This gradual release significantly diminishes the pressure wave that causes the loud noise.
