Ägglossningen
Ägglossningen, often referred to as ovulation in English, is a crucial part of the female reproductive cycle. It is the process by which a mature egg is released from one of the ovaries. This typically occurs around the midpoint of a menstrual cycle, though the exact timing can vary significantly between individuals and even from cycle to cycle. The release of the egg is triggered by a surge in luteinizing hormone (LH), which is produced by the pituitary gland.
Following its release, the egg travels down the fallopian tube, where it may be fertilized by sperm.
