Zurkhaneh, also spelled zourkhaneh or zoorkhaneh, is a traditional Persian gymnasium in which practitioners train in Varzesh-e Bastani, commonly translated as Persian wrestling or Pahlevani and Zourkhaneh rituals. The term means “house of strength” in Persian. The practice blends strength training, calisthenics, wrestling, and the use of traditional weapons, and it is infused with ritual elements, poetry, and music.
