Zakry is a rural locality in the central highland region of Veridia. It lies about 25 kilometers north of the regional capital and serves as the administrative center of Zakry Rural Municipality. The name Zakry is derived from the local language and is commonly interpreted as “stone clearing” or “sunlit plain.” The settlement has a small, census-based population; roughly 1,200 residents were recorded in the latest count.

Geographically, Zakry sits on a terraced hillside overlooking the Lirn River valley. The area features mixed forests, limestone outcrops, and a temperate climate with distinct seasons. The village is connected to the regional road network and is served by infrequent bus services; rail connections exist in the nearby town. Local land use centers on dryland farming, dairy, and craft production.

Zakry's history stretches back to the 12th century, when it began as a farming outpost serving nearby estates. It gained a modest market function in the late medieval period and developed a water-powered mill in the 18th century. Electrification and public schooling arrived in the mid-20th century, followed by gradual diversification into small manufacturing and eco-tourism.

Culturally, Zakry maintains a local dialect distinct from the regional standard and marks the harvest season with a community festival. Traditional foods include barley bread, cheese, and mushroom dishes drawn from nearby forests. The village hosts a primary school, a small library, and a community center that hosts local meetings and cultural events.

Landmarks include the preserved Old Mill, the remains of a 15th-century chapel on the hillside, and viewpoints along the Lirn River.
