It is not a formal grammatical category in most linguistic theories, but it is often used informally by educators and linguists to describe sentences that begin with the interrogative adverb where.

In English, a wherequestion typically follows the pattern where + subject + verb + complement, though variations exist with auxiliaries and modal verbs.
