A warmwaterinstallatie, or hot‑water installation, is a system that supplies heated water for domestic or industrial use. In residential buildings it typically consists of a boiler or water heater, a supply network of pipes, valves and tanks, and controls for temperature and safety. The central component may be a combi boiler that heats water on demand, a tankless unit, a conventional storage tank (collectievat) or a solar thermal system.

The primary source of heat for a warmwaterinstallatie is usually natural gas, but increasingly electricity, biomass pellets, heat pumps or photovoltaic‑generated power are used. In many low‑energy homes the system is coupled to a solar thermal collector, which reduces the electrical load and lowers operating costs. Safety is a key design consideration. Modern installations include automatic cut‑off valves, low‑pressure releases, temperature alarms and water‑meters to prevent both overheating and excessive consumption. In hot‑water installations for large facilities the design must also accommodate pressure regulators, expansion vessels and hygienic filtration to meet health regulations.

Regular maintenance, such as checking the pressure, cleaning the heat exchanger and inspecting the thermostat, extends the life of the system and ensures efficient operation. In many countries, subsidies are available for installing energy‑efficient warmwaterinstallaties, especially those incorporating renewable heat sources, which aligns with national targets for reducing carbon emissions.
