WalkinModelle are models used to analyze and simulate human walking. They include physical test rigs and computational representations that reproduce gait patterns, joint motions, and ground forces. The term appears in biomechanics, robotics, animation, and rehabilitation to study how limbs coordinate through the walking cycle and to evaluate control strategies or assistive devices.

Physical walkinModelle consist of robotic leg segments or gait simulators with actuated joints and sensors, often using compliant elements to mimic muscle-tendon behavior. Computational walkinModelle are musculoskeletal or multibody models solved by forward or inverse dynamics to predict motion and forces. Simplified variants such as compass gait, inverted pendulum, and the spring-loaded inverted pendulum (SLIP) capture essential features with less detail.

Common components include joint angles and velocities, joint torques or muscle forces, ground reaction data, actuators, and control algorithms ranging from simple controllers to optimisation-based planners.

Applications span gait analysis and rehabilitation, prosthetics and orthotics design, humanoid robotics, and realistic animation in media. Researchers use walkinModelle to study energy efficiency, stability, and how injury or impairment affects walking.

Development combines gait analysis, multibody dynamics, and modelling of contact. While increasingly capable, models face challenges such as parameter estimation, computational demands, and variability across individuals, requiring careful validation.
