Vätskekylningsmoduler, often referred to as liquid cooling modules, are integrated components designed to manage heat in various electronic systems. These modules typically consist of a cold plate, pump, reservoir, and tubing, all working in conjunction to circulate a coolant and dissipate thermal energy away from sensitive components. The cold plate, usually made of a highly conductive material like copper or aluminum, is mounted directly onto the heat-generating component, such as a CPU or GPU. The coolant, often a mixture of distilled water and additives to prevent corrosion and algae growth, is pumped from the reservoir through the cold plate, absorbing heat. It then travels through the tubing to a radiator (though sometimes integrated into a single module), where the heat is transferred to the surrounding air, often with the assistance of fans. The cooled liquid then returns to the reservoir, completing the cycle.

These modules offer significant advantages over traditional air cooling, particularly in high-performance computing, servers, and gaming PCs, where heat loads can be substantial. Liquid cooling can achieve lower operating temperatures, leading to improved stability, performance, and potentially a longer lifespan for components. They can also operate more quietly than high-speed fans required for equivalent air cooling. The compact nature of some liquid cooling modules also allows for better space utilization within enclosures. However, they introduce additional complexity, potential leak points, and higher initial cost compared to air cooling solutions. Maintenance, such as occasional coolant checks or refills, is also a consideration.
