Virtuaalsüsteemi, often translated as virtual system, refers to a computing environment that is not directly controlled by the physical hardware it runs on. Instead, it operates on an abstraction layer, typically provided by virtualization software, also known as a hypervisor. This abstraction allows a single physical machine to host multiple independent operating systems and their associated applications, each functioning as if it were running on its own dedicated hardware.

The core concept behind a virtuaalsüsteemi is the creation of virtualized resources, such as virtual CPUs, virtual memory, and virtual storage. These virtual components are mapped to the underlying physical resources. This separation provides several benefits.
