Ventilsats refers to the set of valves and related components installed in an engine’s cylinder head or in a valve assembly. The term is commonly used in automotive and industrial engines to describe the collection of intake and exhaust valves that control the flow of air, fuel, and exhaust gases between the combustion chamber and the intake and exhaust manifolds.

Typical components included in a ventilsats are intake valves and exhaust valves, valve seats, valve guides, valve springs, retainers and keepers, and sometimes seals or stoppers. In many engines, the valves are operated by a camshaft and associated hardware in the valvetrain, ensuring precise opening and closing timing in synchronization with piston movement.

Valve configurations vary by engine design. A ventilsats may consist of multiple valves per cylinder, commonly two or four per cylinder, but some engines use three, five, or more per cylinder in advanced designs. The quality and geometry of the valve seats, guides, and stems affect sealing, compression, and gas flow, and are therefore critical during engine overhaul and head refurbishment.

Replacement or maintenance of a ventilsats is typically undertaken as part of cylinder head service. When wear or damage occurs—such as valve stem wear, valve seat recession, or valve guide play—the valves, seats, and related components may be ground or replaced. Modern engines may use hardened valve seats and coatings to extend life.
