Veenipleksused refers to a medical condition characterized by the dilation and tortuosity of veins, often appearing as enlarged, twisted, and sometimes bulging blood vessels. These can occur in various parts of the body, most commonly affecting the legs, where they are known as varicose veins. They can also manifest in the rectum as hemorrhoids or in the scrotum as varicoceles. The underlying cause is typically a weakening of the vein walls and their valves, which are responsible for ensuring unidirectional blood flow back to the heart.

When the valves are compromised, blood can pool in the veins, leading to increased pressure and subsequent dilation.
