Väljutussüsteemist is the Estonian term for an ejection system, commonly associated with aircraft. These systems are designed to safely remove a pilot from a damaged or malfunctioning aircraft, particularly when the aircraft is at a dangerous altitude or speed. The primary goal is to save the pilot's life by ensuring a swift and controlled separation from the aircraft.

Modern ejection systems are highly sophisticated. They typically involve a canopy jettison mechanism, which clears the pilot's escape path, followed by the ejection of the seat itself. The seat is propelled by a rocket motor, accelerating it rapidly away from the aircraft. Once clear, a parachute deploys to slow the pilot's descent to a safe landing speed. The timing and sequencing of these events are critical and are often controlled by a complex sequencer.

The development of ejection systems began in the late 1930s and early 1940s, with early prototypes and operational use appearing during World War II. Initial systems were less reliable and posed significant risks to pilots. Over the decades, continuous improvements in design, materials, and safety features have made ejection systems much safer and more effective. Factors such as pilot weight, altitude, and airspeed are taken into account to optimize the ejection sequence.
