This condition typically occurs as a result of recurrent shoulder dislocations or severe shoulder injuries. When the humerus (the upper arm bone) dislocates, it can repeatedly impact against the rim of the glenoid, leading to a chipping or erosion of the bone. This gradual loss of bone can destabilize the shoulder joint, making it more prone to further dislocations.

The symptoms of vállcsontveszteség can vary depending on the severity of the bone loss. Patients may experience persistent shoulder pain, a feeling of instability, and a sense of the shoulder giving way. Recurrent dislocations are a hallmark symptom, often occurring with less and less force. In some cases, the shoulder may feel weak, and the range of motion can be limited.

Diagnosis usually involves a thorough physical examination and imaging studies. X-rays can often reveal the extent of bone loss, but more detailed imaging such as CT scans or MRIs are frequently used to accurately assess the amount and location of the missing bone. This precise assessment is crucial for planning appropriate treatment.
