A uprofiel (often written "U-profile" or "U-channel" in English) is a structural or finishing element with a cross section shaped like the letter U. It typically consists of a flat base (web) and two parallel flanges, forming an open channel that can accept other components, edges, or fasteners. U-profiles are produced in a range of sizes, flange heights and thicknesses to suit different loads and functions.

U-profiles are manufactured by processes such as roll forming, extrusion or hot- and cold-rolling, depending on the material. Common materials include carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and various plastics. Surface finishes and coatings—galvanizing, painting, powder coating or anodizing—are applied for corrosion protection and appearance.

Typical uses include structural framing, edge protection, guides and tracks, mounting channels, cable management and trim in construction, automotive, industrial machinery, furniture and glazing systems. They are valued for their straightforward geometry, ease of fabrication and capacity to carry bending loads along the web while providing a convenient attachment surface on the flanges.

Limitations of U-profiles include reduced torsional rigidity compared with closed sections and potential susceptibility to deformation under concentrated loads. Selection considerations include material, thickness, flange dimensions, required load-bearing performance and environmental exposure.
