ulçera

Ulçera is a term of Albanian origin that translates to "ulcer" in English. An ulcer is a break in the skin or mucous membrane that fails to heal properly. Ulcers can occur in various parts of the body and have different causes and characteristics.

Common types of ulcers include peptic ulcers, which form in the lining of the stomach or the first part of the small intestine (duodenum). These are often caused by infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori or by the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Symptoms can include stomach pain, bloating, and nausea.

Skin ulcers are open sores that develop on the skin, often on the legs, feet, or ankles. These can be caused by poor circulation (venous or arterial ulcers), pressure (pressure ulcers or bedsores), or diabetes (diabetic foot ulcers). They can be slow to heal and prone to infection.

Other types of ulcers exist, such as corneal ulcers affecting the eye, mouth ulcers (canker sores), and aphthous ulcers. The diagnosis and treatment of any ulcer depend on its location, cause, and severity. Medical attention is generally advised for persistent or concerning ulcers.
