Ultragloss is a marketing term used in coatings and cosmetics to denote an ultra-high-gloss finish or product. It is applied to paints, varnishes, laminates, and cosmetic formulations that yield a highly reflective, glass-like surface.

In industrial coatings, ultragloss finishes are produced with resin systems such as polyurethane, epoxy, or acrylic matrices, often incorporating UV-curing or thermal-curing chemistries, and optimized for leveling, clarity, and surface hardness. The finish is typically clear or lightly tinted and designed to maximize depth and reflectivity.

Gloss is quantified with a glossmeter at standard angles; ultragloss aims for top-tier gloss readings and smoothness; requires meticulous surface preparation and proper curing.

Applications include automotive clear coats, furniture and architectural finishes, and consumer electronics housings, as well as cosmetic products such as lip gloss and nail coatings that emphasize high shine.

Advantages include a striking appearance and perceived depth; limitations include increased visibility of scratches, dust, and fingerprints, as well as sensitivity to UV exposure and humidity. Environmental and health considerations focus on volatile organic compounds and safe handling of coatings.
