Type design is the art and process of designing typefaces. A typeface is a set of printable or displayable text characters in a specific style and size. Type design involves creating the shapes of letters, numbers, and other symbols, as well as considering their spacing and overall visual harmony. The history of type design is closely intertwined with the history of printing. Early typefaces were often inspired by handwritten scripts.
