Turbóhajtóm is a Hungarian term that translates to "turbo drive" or "turbo propulsion." It generally refers to a system that enhances the power output of an engine, typically an internal combustion engine, by forcing more air into the combustion chamber. This increased air supply allows for more fuel to be burned, resulting in a significant increase in power and torque compared to a naturally aspirated engine of the same displacement.

The most common form of turbóhajtóm utilizes a turbocharger. A turbocharger is a type of supercharger that uses a turbine powered by the engine's exhaust gases to spin a compressor. The compressor then forces compressed air into the engine cylinders. This process is highly efficient as it recovers energy from the exhaust that would otherwise be wasted. Other forms of forced induction, such as superchargers driven by a belt or gears, also fall under the broad category of turbóhajtóm, though the term is most often associated with exhaust-driven turbochargers.

The benefits of turbóhajtóm include improved performance, better fuel efficiency under certain conditions (as a smaller engine can produce the power of a larger one), and reduced emissions due to more complete combustion.
