Turbojety is a term used in some fictional contexts and niche online discussions to describe a compact propulsion concept based on a turbojet engine. It is not an official or standardized term in aviation engineering, and there is no single agreed-upon specification.

In the conceptual use, turbojety refers to a small turbojet core designed for rapid throttle response and simplified integration into lightweight vehicles. Variants may employ features drawn from conventional turbojets such as a centrifugal or axial-flow compressor, a combustion chamber, a turbine, and a nozzle, sometimes with afterburner or variable geometry. Some discussions also describe hybrid configurations in which a supplementary electric motor assists startup or provides short-term power, though these are speculative.

Performance characteristics vary widely in fictional or speculative sources. Reported thrust can range from a few hundred newtons to several kilonewtons, with emphasis on quick acceleration and high exhaust velocity. Efficiency at subsonic speeds is typically presented as challenging, and noise, fuel consumption, and regulatory constraints are recurring practical drawbacks cited in non-fictional discussions.

In real-world aerospace engineering, turbojet is a well-established technology, and there is no recognized engine family specifically called turbojety. The term remains mainly of interest to science fiction writers, hobbyist builders, or theoretical discussions, rather than to mainstream manufacturers or regulators.
